Valentine's Day

The big day of love is coming. It isn't like when we were kids and our parents might have brought home a cute stuffed animal and a coloring book. Last year I thought I was going the extra mile by putting up a few decorations and buying the kids a few little toys. We had a helium tank left over from a birthday party so we blew up a few balloons. My mom sent the kids precious cards with money (which always goes into their accounts) and that was that.

So why do I feel like I have to go ALL OUT this year? I've been doing searches online for cute activities to do with Lauren, my little artist. I bought more decorations such as window clings (that don't cling), a tablecloth for the kitchen, and cutie-pie placemats. I have the nice red tablecloth on the dining room table and we even bought a Valentine's Day door mat. I already have a plan for setting out their gifts Saturday morning and making heart shaped pancakes. For lunch the kids will eat heart-shaped sandwiches and drink strawberry milk. We have heart-shaped ice cube trays and I'd like to make dipped strawberries or the BEST Strawberry Shortcake ever (by Paula Deen). I have no idea what we're doing for dinner but I am going to make fondue for dessert.

But I want to do more! I have been to Hobby Lobby, Joann's, Target, and Wal-Mart twice just looking for more decorations and ideas. CRAZY!

So do you do anything for Valentine's Day?

OMG Stephanie! lol I wish you were my mommy! i want heart shaped pancakes and sandwiches and chocolate dipped strawberries. Are you going to make cookies that are heart shaped too? You're too cute.

Saturday is mine and Brad's 3 and a half years. We have our class, solar systems, in the morning so hopefully brad wont have to work that evening and we can spend all day together.

I still have no idea what to get him for the big V-day though. So far i've only got him two cards, a serious one and then to make it more fun i got him a really funny one.

But the present thing... is awful, i hate shopping for guys.

Your neice :D

Stop the madness! Next thing you know you will be spray painting the Christmas tree red and decorating with little heart shaped ornaments! (no you can not decorate a tree for Valentines Day)

I have to buy gifts for the kids at Jackson's day care...he is only six months old! He is still a "lay down baby" and he is getting treats from the other kids! I think Hallmark is behind all this Valentine's madness!

Patrick has ALWAYS given me chocolate covered strawberries from Lambs Candy. It's the only time of the year they make them and they are my FAVORITE! But I will not be getting them this year since I'm trying to get my glucose levels under control...boo.

Have fun making all things heart shape! it will be great memories for your kids!

You're so great about livin' it up Stephanie! :) Dominic is in an anti-valentine phase right now (maybe someone broke his heart at school?) so we're just coolin' it on Vday over here. Sighhhhhhh. I'll be happy when this negative phase is over! B's playing at a wedding that day so he's just going to bring home some fancy food for us to eat together after the kids go to bed and then we'll watch a movie. I wish you guys could come with us to the nursing home, we'll miss you Friday. Saturday!
