Last year my parents came here for Christmas because our sweet Abby was only a few days old. Mom arrived on the 19th to watch Lauren and Caleb while we were in the hospital.
Like most of our mothers, she started asking why I do certain things the way I do. For example, when she arrived, I started putting the gifts she brought under the tree. She told me I should wait until Christmas morning so it would REALLY look like Santa had been there. Okay, that DID sound like a good idea.
Then, she insisted that we put some unwrapped presents under the tree. I just found that odd, except for the exceptionally large gifts of course.
So it got me to thinkin', anyone else out there put unwrapped gifts under the tree?

My "Santa" gifts as a child were always unwrapped...and it made me a little sad...cause I LOVE unwrapping gifts. The guessing all that.
I wrap EVERYTHING big and small.
For the kids' stuff, ALL of their presents are unwrapped and go out on Christmas Eve night after they are in bed so that when they wake up, it's just an overwhelming sea of things that Santa brought. I guess Santa was much too busy to wrap gifts.
When my mom wrapped the gifts as a child (which was few) I could always recognize her handwriting on the gift tags.
Santa's gifts are always unwrapped. Otherwise you have to hide separate wrapping paper from the other gifts, disguise the handwriting, etc. Just too much risk. Plus it is good to see expressions on the faces of the kids when they get up on Christmas morning and can really SEE what Santa left them.
